Those who love football might think of the Premier League, and for some, it might remind them of the British band Oasis. But for me, it is a word that conveys both nostalgia and sadness. It is similar to the feelings that arise when recalling my hometown, with the band I love dearly, The Stone Roses, at its center.
When I first started making Delispice, the bands I passionately loved were strangely many from Manchester. The Charlatans, who were part of the Manchester wave along with The Stone Roses, The Smiths, who produced Morrissey and Johnny Marr, and New Order, who rose again from the pain of Joy Division... It's amazing that so many great names came from one city. They are like hometown figures that led me down the path of bands. So, it is music that carries both nostalgia and a certain sadness.
However, there is a band that has made me feel a similar emotion after a long time, and that is a team called "Black Leaves," from Busan, not Manchester or Seoul. "What should I do with these guys?" was a sigh that escaped my lips when the second and third songs played. They are a new band making the kind of music I wished to create if I had formed a band in the early 90s; what era are these guys living in? With jangly and clear guitar arpeggios, a bass line so familiar it felt like something I had played in the past, and literary lyrics reminiscent of Morrissey, they are filled with elements that trigger an immediate response in "modern boys and girls" who remember that time. So, I was glad and simultaneously felt a sense of sadness.
"Yes, this is what a band is supposed to be... No need to care about trends or others' tastes, just the desire to realize what I love in a band, that intense longing is all that matters..." Perhaps I confirmed a truth that should be obvious while listening to Black Leaves' album? The music coming out of the indie scene these days is slick, skilled, and well-done, but it feels a bit too polished, which is somewhat disappointing. But I was glad to see friends who brought out this rawness after a long time.
After listening to the entire album, I became curious about what kind of people the members are. I want to meet them, ask what bands they like, and see how they proceed when working. Someone's advice? I hope they don't listen to that. These days, you should use instruments like this, or this sound is trending; I hope they don't pay attention to such words. Just go your own way, please.

In Delispice's "I Will Always Keep the Engine On," there are lyrics that say
"Let's go far away while listening to The Smiths we always hear"
Instead of The Smiths, I want to go to the beach in Busan, their hometown, while listening to Black Leaves. To confirm the identity of the nostalgia and sadness I felt. I want to hope that I will discover our appearance from 30 years ago, the curious eyes of modern boys and girls.

Yoon Jun-ho (Delispice)
<Album Credit>

Executive produced by Choi In-hee @ ORM ent.
Produced by Kim Nam-yoon
All songs composed & written by Kwon Dong-wook, Kim Sung-min
All songs arranged by Black Leaves, Kim Nam-yoon
All songs Mixed & Mastered by Kim Nam-yoon
All songs Recorded by Choi Woo-young @ Music Lab Busan & Kim Nam-yoon @ Southpole Sound Lab

All songs vocals by Kwon Dong-wook
All songs guitars by Kim Sung-min
All songs bass played by Choi Eun-ha, Kim Nam-yoon
All songs drums sequenced by Kim Nam-yoon
All songs drums by Yoon Young-woong except tracks 6,7,8,9,10 by Hong Hyun-seung
Tracks 1,3,11 keyboard played by Ko Kyung-cheon
Tracks 6,8 Piano played by Lee Bong-wook, Kim Sung-hyun
Track 4 chorus by Choi In-hee, Choi Eun-ha
Artwork & Design by MYZY

Product Information Notice

Product Name : Black Leaves - Album [Goodbye, Book!]

Country of Origin : Korea

Manufacturer/Importer : SONY MUSIC SONY MUSIC

Quality Assurance Standards : According to relevant laws and consumer dispute resolution regulations.

AS Contact Person : ALLKMAG, 070-8065-4645
