The snow melts softly, the faint dark blue dawn, the small light spreading gently in the deep night. Listening to SURL's songs, complex images that are difficult to describe in precise words color my ears. The fireworks in the night sky fade away with a faint afterimage, and the footprints that are engraved on the wet ground after the rain, like a memory that crumbles and disappears. It feels like déjà vu when I first heard SURL's music in 2018.

Listening to SURL's music always paints a landscape. The lyrics are concise like poetry and do not enumerate many stories. However, the images that arise between each sentence remain in my mind like an afterimage, completing a story like a short film. SURL's 1st regular album [of us] also paints a story in front of me with a fantastic yet cool perspective, starting with 'Rope', which raises tension like a movie opening, the 10 songs showcase various genres of films that pass between the character called SURL.
