ARTMS [Dall]
Five girls determined by fate have stood at a new starting line and named themselves ARTMS. Kim Lip, Jin Sol, and Choi Ri have successfully completed a North America and Europe tour with the announcement of their new album [Version Up] while reactivating ODD EYE CIRCLE, and HeeJin has sufficiently introduced Korean beauty with her solo album [K]. Additionally, Hasul has shown growth as a performance-type idol by successfully completing a four-day solo concert in Seoul. Having warmed up, ARTMS has finally released their first full album [Dall], containing the blessings and brutal paradoxes of love and life.
The intro track 'url' serves as a ritual to transition into the title track 'Virtual Angel'. Just like how we must encounter a URL to move anywhere on the internet. Starting with Kim Lip's narration, the rhythm that pours out exuberantly encapsulates the dynamics of the album.
The title track 'Virtual Angel' was created by EL CAPITXN and Vendors, who made songs like 'Generation' and 'Girls Never Die' for the junior group tripleS. Based on Y2K sensibilities of Euro dance, it builds a sacred vibe that could resonate in a cathedral, completing a dance track with a new feeling that has never been heard before.
Now that the advancement of AI and the existence of the virtual have come closer to reality. This song questions whether the idols we have been consuming through TV and phones were not virtual. The feelings of love and romance towards idols may not be real romance in the eyes of others, but between idols and fans, those feelings may have been pure love. ARTMS sings that the emotions that arise beyond the screen could be real, not virtual.
Digipedi, who built the worldview together since the time of LOONA, directed the music video, capturing the story of ARTMS and their fans in the video.
'Sparkle' expresses the spark of shining emotions through music. Just as we say that sparks fly when we talk about love, how many fireworks will unfold in our love? The excitement is engraved in the voices of ARTMS members.
'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' was kept as a title track for ARTMS's next album, showcasing its importance. It was included in the debut first full album without reservation for its completeness. This song, gifted to the members by producer G-high, who created LOONA's representative song 'Butterfly', contains a beat that can be loved by both existing and new fans.
The pre-released songs from 'Flower Rhythm' to 'Candy Crush' and 'Air' were all completed by sampling HeeJin's solo songs 'Bloom' and 'Algorithm', Hasul's solo 'Plastic Candy', and ODD EYE CIRCLE's 'Air Force One'. It signifies that each member's journey has come together to complete the team ARTMS.
Following 'Air', 'Unf/Air' sings about the asymmetry of the emotion called love. Why is it that I love you but you do not look at me? It expresses this unfairness in a calm and cute manner.
'Distress' unfortunately placed second in the ARTMS pre-release voting, but it was recorded as the first song during album preparation, showcasing its high completeness. The moment it was monitored in the first recording studio, this song already defined ARTMS's style.
'Butterfly Effect' tells the story of how the fluttering of LOONA's 'Butterfly' became ARTMS. The genre itself can be said to be 'Butterfly', as it inherits the unique music style and musical legacy of LOONA, taking flight with ARTMS.
The final song 'Birth' received overwhelming support from fans during the ARTMS pre-release gravity, becoming number one. And that 'birth' proves the existence of ARTMS. The already released music video has been evaluated as the most brutal and beautiful video in K-POP history, capturing the aesthetics of ARTMS.
Even before the album release, ARTMS announced the schedule for the world tour 'Moonshot', marking the beginning of their grand journey here and now.
