Doma 2nd Album [Doma]
I felt grateful that I could continue living in Seoul even with clumsy music, but both music and Seoul became burdensome, and the grateful feelings were long gone, turning into a pretty illusion seen from afar. I was just doing what I had been doing, focusing only on the fight with myself with a sense of responsibility that no one had ever shouldered, treating the strength sent from the outside as a trap.
Anyway, I recently held my first performance this year just to keep going. My biggest goal was to go back with a natural heart, so I prepared that feeling in various ways, but in the end, I came down from the stage, feeling uncomfortable, as if I were fighting something invisible. I felt sorry for the audience who came to see me, as I was busy exposing myself and trying to hide. I think my desire to focus only on myself made us both feel lost. Is this how it will be this year too? The aftereffects lingered for a long time.
Why should I be uncomfortable like this? I concluded that I should finish the work I was doing, so I put aside my questions for now and kept them somewhere in my heart. However, I couldn't find a natural and comfortable posture with just this stubborn reason. It was the music that was the reason for my life in Seoul, but the fact that I was forcing myself to make music kept pushing me away from myself, making me feel like a stranger nowhere to be found. As I turned myself into a foreigner who was nowhere to be found, I was becoming increasingly ugly day by day. So, as I sat quietly and drank in the feelings of failure and sadness I had been putting off, a sense of liberation slightly blew in. Is this finally the situation I had longed for, facing my own appearance?
As I rummaged through my heart and pulled out various versions of myself, I felt that the awkward piece that endured with gratitude finally put on its own clothes. Thus, I felt a sincere gratitude for the heart and situation that came to me. I remembered that enjoying those grateful feelings creates a natural energy, and the desire to repay that enjoyment was exactly shaped like a wheel.

I speak with my head slightly bowed. If I lift my head and speak, it seems like it will scatter into the air. If I speak loudly, it might run away without staying. Perhaps in a voice that may not be heard well. Doma.
The name that was chosen for its pleasant sound, Doma. Thanks to Doma, we have finally discovered the soft, warm, cheerful, and affectionate texture that the word 'Doma' carries. “There are so many words that resemble what I want to say,” so I speak on behalf of all those words. That name, which was like raindrops. Doma.
Where does a dream begin? We can relatively clearly recognize the end that is connected to the moment we wake up. However, the moment a dream begins is vague and blurry, like standing in the fog.
Doma has returned. Doma has returned. Is it a dream? It must be a dream. It is still very difficult to say it as a confirmation, but Doma has gone down a road from which it can never return. For a long time after Doma left, I couldn't believe or feel that fact. Walking through the alleys of Mangwon-dong, I felt like I would suddenly run into Doma at some corner, and when I visited the small stage in the basement of the Jebi Cafe in Sangsu-dong on a weekend evening, I felt like I would see Doma singing. But that never happened. Just like Doma's song, “Since you left, I couldn't even cry, just sat still,” I could only spend quiet time. So, Doma's return must be a dream. Even if it's a dream, it's fine. A willing dream that I want to welcome as 'arms running from afar.' has returned.
is Doma's third album following and . If the previous two albums depict the emotions Doma encountered in the process of meeting the world or exploring the world, listening to the 2nd album brings to mind Doma looking into its inner landscape.
The first half of the album, through [Sleeping Heart], [Seoul], [The Distance of the Street], and [It Was Comfortable to Curl Up], Doma talks about the loneliness of living in Seoul and the hardships of human relationships. Life in Seoul, where I came up because I love singing and music. It may not have been all joy, but Doma always seemed bright and cheerful. I never thought to ask about the size of the loneliness that was behind it, but listening to these songs, I could finally guess that size. It hurts to realize that embracing these painfully lonely and beautiful songs now cannot bring comfort. If so, I should go the way I was going, even embracing that pain. That is the method Doma taught me. Doma overcomes the pain of saying, “Even my heart that loves is untrustworthy, it was extinguished and dead,” by going the way of “dancing a dance no one knows.” No, even if it’s not overcoming, I’ll just decide to do that. Even if there’s no one to acknowledge it, I choose to cross to the other side rather than curl up in despair. With a vague but refreshing hope that you might be there. [Dancing a Dance No One Knows]
Recalling a moment when I heard the sound of rain in a rainy landscape, the joy of pondering what words could beautifully capture the beauty of that moment. I wish Doma could enjoy that joy a little longer. If so, how many beautiful moments would it have shared with us? Doma's blooming youth has not yet come. It is in the future. If it were a past worth remembering, it would have been expressed in clearer words. But Doma was “choosing which words would be appropriate because there are so many words that resemble what I want to say.” It wanted to capture that beauty to the extent of being jealous of raindrops. [Blooming Youth]
Doma. A person who always opened their heart first and approached. A person who felt natural as if they had always been in that place. A person who knew how to rejoice like a child when happy and to express anger very clearly when angry, an honest and straightforward person. A free person who would suddenly leave when in the mood and then return to their place beside friends. Doma was that kind of friend. A friend who would willingly get lost together, flowing anywhere together. Now a beloved friend who can only be met by closing our eyes. Even if it’s a dream, when winter comes and snow falls, let’s meet with our eyes closed. [Winter Ballad]
The world left behind by Doma
Doma's 2nd album was able to come out into the world because it was completed by Geonu, another member of Doma, who took over the work left behind. How much thought and responsibility is needed in the process of completing a work based on a dream someone left behind? Geonu willingly took on that heavy burden and brought it along. Although I don't know for sure, the pressure to finish Doma's work, who is the leader and friend of the team, as a complete work must have been very great. I send my gratitude and applause to Geonu for completing the world of with a wonderful album.
We needed 'many more times to be with Doma.' Doma left too early. As much as that fact is regrettable and painful, we will spend a lot of time with this album .
