Why do people listen to music? The reasons are as diverse as the number of people who listen to music. Some need music to enjoy overwhelming happiness more deeply, while others seek comforting songs to soothe their penetrating sadness. There are those who desperately need a work song to energize their tired mornings as they drag their unwilling bodies to work, and there are those who look for music like a friend to tell them they are not alone in the early morning when everyone else is asleep. Some may enthusiastically listen to find their taste in music, while others may respond indifferently, saying they just listen because it’s there. The important thing is that, regardless of who they are, they all ‘listen’ to music.

Son Tae Jin is a singer. He majored in vocal music and became known to the public through a survival program focused on crossover music, so it is not strange to refer to him as a classical singer and crossover musician. However, one absolute description that no one would get wrong is that he is a ‘singer’. This holds true even when looking back at the considerable time he has spent expressing himself through song. His voice, boasting a deep resonance as a bass baritone, was great in the musical ‘Les Misérables’ with ‘Stars’, but it also suited Kim Dong Ryul’s ‘Old Song’ very well. The song he himself chose as the ‘song that changed his life’, ‘Old Song’, was the piece that truly showed him that he could express pop music through classical music without difficulty.

‘Old Song’ became the first button and the biggest support for this album [THE PRESENT Part 1- At The Time], crossing over time. As a member of the vocal group Forte di Quattro, he has now released an album under the name ‘Son Tae Jin’ for the first time, featuring some unexpected names. The emotional first track ‘Until the End of the World’ is composed and performed by pianist Kim Kwang Min. The song ‘Moonlit Night in Tongyeong’, which begins cautiously as if the deeply sleeping night is waking up, features the name of singer-songwriter and composer Lee Kyu Ho, known for his pure and romantic sensibility. The duet song ‘Deepening’, which was released as a pre-release track and raised expectations for the album, includes both a solo version that can only be heard with Son Tae Jin's voice and a duet version sung with Wendy, the main vocalist of Red Velvet.

Listening to these warm and cozy songs brings one thought to mind. Part 2, which will be released in succession, will also be warm and cozy, even without announcing the glamorous appearances of those who are expected to participate. Because it is Son Tae Jin's voice that sings those songs. At such times, one suddenly recalls the emotions that those who have listened to his songs until now must have felt. Music that seeps in like the winter sunlight that gradually lengthens as the season deepens, like the quiet, gentle spring rain that falls silently. Genres or fields of activity are merely pastimes for those who love to talk. There is music sung by a voice that wraps around the entire body the moment it is heard. That music will reach the side of those who are listening to music for their own reasons today, becoming their warmth and strength. Is there a greater value in music than this?
