Synopsis

There are two men who don't match 99 out of 100 things, but one thing is right: music. The musician 'Ji-hoon (Park Chan-yeol)' whose musical talent explodes only when wearing a box, and the producer 'Min-soo (Jo Dal-hwan)' who has no money but has an instinctive sense of music. By chance, 'Min-soo' discovers 'Ji-hoon' and insists on performing together for 10 stages, starting their journey.
'Min-soo', who pushes for 10 busking performances based solely on 'Ji-hoon's' talent, and 'Ji-hoon', who follows 'Min-soo' despite the suspicious smell of a scam, are guided into a musical journey that brings overwhelming emotion and surprise with every stage they complete with world-famous songs.

About Movie

World-famous songs by Coldplay, Billie Eilish, Chet Baker, Mariah Carey, etc.
A feast of busking unfolds in domestic HIP places.
One of the biggest viewing points of <The Box> is that it fills the screen with world-famous songs never heard in any domestic film before, in rich sound. Park Chan-yeol sings songs that stimulate the five senses with his charming low voice against the beautiful backgrounds of Incheon, Jeonju, Gyeongju, Yeosu, Ulsan, Ganjeolgot, and Busan, where Jo Dal-hwan visits in the film. These many songs are made up of tracks from top artists like Coldplay, Billie Eilish, Pharrell Williams, Chet Baker, and Mariah Carey, delighting the audience's eyes and ears, making the runtime fly by.
Moreover, they present increasingly refined busking stages every time they change locations, keeping the audience eagerly anticipating what comes next. In particular, the fantasy scenes featuring Billie Eilish's [bad guy], Louis Armstrong's [what a wonderful world], and Coldplay's [a sky full of stars] appearing in the early, middle, and late parts are truly spectacular, overwhelming viewers as if a grand concert unfolds before their eyes. These scenes also boast a point of differentiation from other films, showcasing the strengths of director Yang Jeong-woong, who has created remarkable stage productions. He highlights the genre of <The Box> as a musical film while transforming domestic HIP places into stunning stages, creating the pinnacle of busking with dazzling music.

The charming voice of artist Park Chan-yeol
The meeting of Korea's Mark Ruffalo, the versatile actor Jo Dal-hwan
Park Chan-yeol and Jo Dal-hwan will showcase a strangely delightful chemistry along with the famous songs. <The Box> can be said to be a discovery of both Park Chan-yeol and Jo Dal-hwan. First, he introduces himself as actor 'Park Chan-yeol' through the movie <The Box> from EXO. He leads the atmosphere with a dazzling performance, showcasing an irresistible charm, and has shown his acting side through various genres of drama. This time, he returns to a character that fits him perfectly, raising expectations. It is precisely that we can fully enjoy Park Chan-yeol's charming low voice. He uniquely interprets world-famous songs with his distinctive low voice, showcasing his long-accumulated artistry and enhancing the film's melody.
Jo Dal-hwan also reaches the top in <The Box>, delicately portraying a character that has fallen from grace. He expresses charisma with sharp judgment about music and loyalty to the artist he discovered, as well as scenes where he knows the best restaurants in the film, conveying professionalism and a sense of humanity that brings the film's drama to life. Additionally, he shows a tic-tac-toe chemistry with Park Chan-yeol, who plays the stoic and emotionally inept 'Ji-hoon'. In particular, his journey of discovering hidden gems and turning them into jewels evokes the image of Korea's 'Mark Ruffalo', immersing the audience in the film's story.
Character & Cast

“I can't sing in front of those people”
The genius musician 'Ji-hoon' hiding in the box | Park Chan-yeol
With genius talent and a burning passion for music, 'Ji-hoon' is a parking lot employee in an old building. 'Min-soo', who is captivated by his singing, abruptly presents a hastily scribbled contract, promising to put him on a big stage after 10 rehearsals. However, 'Ji-hoon', who is terrified of singing in front of people due to trauma, cannot readily accept. Upon learning of 'Ji-hoon's' stage fright, 'Min-soo' suggests that he sing while wearing a box. Hesitant, 'Ji-hoon' decides to trust him once, and enters the box that 'Min-soo' has provided, starting to sing his own songs.
Park Chan-yeol, returning from artist to actor, plays the role of a genius musician with a fear of the stage, singing a heartfelt story. In this work, he showcases his distinctive husky voice in singing, guitar, and drum performances, as well as participating in songwriting, revealing his solid musical world built over a long time as an artist.

“I'll make you money”
The flamboyant producer 'Min-soo' | Jo Dal-hwan
Having reached the pinnacle as a record planner with the ability to turn raw stones into gems, 'Min-soo' is now a broke producer with nothing but loan shark debts. He lives by the motto that life is all about 'style' and always dreams of another success. One day, hearing intense potential in 'Ji-hoon's' song, he abruptly presents a contract, but 'Ji-hoon' refuses, saying he cannot sing in front of people due to trauma. After much persuasion, 'Min-soo' cannot give up the raw gem he has found, and eventually 'Ji-hoon' changes his mind, and the two begin a busking journey across the country with 10 performances.
Jo Dal-hwan, a versatile entertainer who excels in acting and variety shows, delivers another outstanding performance.

Director

“I hope this film can wash away the trauma that exists in everyone through music.”
Screenwriter/Director Yang Jeong-woong
Awarded the directing award at the 2009 Korea Theater Awards, Yang Jeong-woong is regarded as a genius of mise-en-scène representing Korean theater. He possesses a natural talent for capturing both Korean and global sentiments, having brought Shakespeare's works to life with traditional aesthetics, becoming the first to perform at the London Globe Theatre, and receiving high praise as “Korea's national treasure.” He also directed the opening ceremony of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, actively working in various fields beyond his main stage in theater, and now begins a new challenge in film.

Music Director

Music Director Echo Bridge
Echo Bridge, the composer of Jung Yup's [Nothing Better] and active in various fields as a record producer, songwriter, and arranger, participates as the music director of <The Box>, enhancing the glamorous tracklist. His musical world, which leads to a warm interaction between music and people, enriches the journey of Ji-hoon and Min-soo as they take a step further together through music.

Asian Size Conversion

Asian sizes tend to run smaller than US or European sizes. Generally, we recommend choosing 1–2 sizes larger than your usual size. However, each product may have its own sizing, so please check the Size Chart on the specific product page.

Quick Tips for Selecting the Best Size

  1. Consider Fit: Oversized or Fitted?

Determine if you want a loose or fitted look before measuring. Think about:

    • Is the item designed as oversized, or would you prefer a more fitted style?
    • Choose your size based on these preferences for a better fit.
  2. Measure a Similar Item in Your Wardrobe

Measuring a similar item you already own can give you a better sense of how the new piece will fit.

    • For example, measure the length of a favorite dress and compare it to the size chart on the product page.
  3. When in Doubt, Size Up

If you’re between sizes, choosing the larger size gives you more flexibility and reduces the risk of a tight fit.

How to Measure Your Body

  • Bust

Measure around the fullest part of your bust, placing the tape under your armpits and around your shoulder blades. Keep the tape loose for an accurate measurement.

  • Chest Circumference

Wrap the tape measure under your armpits, around your shoulder blades, and below your bust.

  • Waist

Measure around your natural waistline, about 1 inch (2.54 cm) above your navel. Exhale and relax for accuracy.

  • Hip

Measure around the fullest part of your hips, typically about 8 inches (20.32 cm) below your waist.

  • Shoulder Width

Measure from one shoulder edge to the other. For better accuracy, have someone help you measure across your shoulder seams.

  • Sleeve Length (Arm Length)

Hold the tape at your wrist, bend your arm to place your hand on your hip, and measure over the elbow to the shoulder bone.

  • Leg Opening

Lay your favorite pair of pants flat and measure across the bottom cuff. Multiply by two for the leg opening measurement.

  • Thigh

Wrap the tape measure around the thickest part of your thigh, just below the buttocks.
